About Darrell Gibbs

Darrell Gibbs is the author of three genealogy books called '22 Steps in Researching Your Family Tree', '38 Family Tree Research Resources' and 'New Leaves'. These books are great desktop companions for new family tree historians. He was born in Korbecke, West Germany in 1956 when his father was stationed in Soest with the Canadian Army. He grew up on army bases during the sixties and early seventies and he himself joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1974. Darrell was posted to various bases in Canada, Lahr - Germany for five years and other overseas deployments. After a successful career with the Canadian Armed Forces and the Public Service Darrell retired after 38 years as a chef/kitchen manager in 2015. He also earned the 'Presidents Honour Award' for a Computer Technician at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario in 2005. A loving father of three children and five grandchildren. Darrell's passion today is genealogy but he also has many hobbies such as reading, writing, playing guitar, woodworking, renovating and collecting hockey memorabilia. Darrell's other passion is hockey; he is forever a devoted 'Toronto Maple Leafs' fan. Darrell co-authored the book 'Tormented by Ghosts - True Life Experiences' with Lynda Bogert. Once the book was completed, he began writing 'Wessex Reign', a fictional historical book with paranormal themes. Wessex Reign will be a series of planned books in a trilogy called the 'United Englaland Series'.
